Book review: Word Perfect: Etymological Entertainment For Every Day of the Year by Susie Dent
Rating: 5 out of 5
This is the first book that I remember reading in its (I assume) intended method - a piece every day all year long. There have been a few occasions where I’ve missed a day or two - usually if I’ve been away - but it’s been a part of my morning wake up routine. Some great words, some good use of humour. A good companion to an odd year.
Highlighted passage:
‘quiddling’ (attending to the trivial tasks in life as a way of avoiding the important ones)
