I listened to this as an audiobook while on a rainy (in places) holiday. It seemed appropriate and matched the weather well. Some of the descriptions were evocative, but I didn’t really warm to any of the characters - they all had their annoyances. This was probably deliberate but I do like to enjoy the company of at least one of the characters as I accompany them on their journeys through life. I also found much of the story to be pretty bleak. Again, probably deliberate.
