I found this quite hard work for a short book. Very claustrophobic. Life in a small village. All the characters intertwined. And Elsa, our narrator’s, mother was infuriating. Having written that and realised that I’ve just upped my rating from three to four stars as it is clear I had an emotional reaction to it!
