After our successful local walk this morning, we sought out more beautiful scenery nearby and settled on Waddesdon Manor. What we’d failed to notice was how all-encompassing their Christmas event was, which meant we had to pay to get into the grounds.

The actual light show part of the event wasn’t really doing a lot for us in the cold brightness of the midday sun, but we got an idea of what it may look like as darkness fell.

What I truly enjoyed, however, was hearing the soundtrack of Christmas carols accompanying us as we walked. Snow underfoot with the sound of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” suddenly made me feel properly festive, something I realised I hadn’t felt during the holiday season until then. Snow does seem to have that effect on me!
