Tōhoku Japanese Earthquake Sculpture | Luke Jerram

Media_httpwwwlukejerr_brtdo

This sculpture was made to contemplate the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

To create the sculpture a seismogram of the earthquake, was rotated using computer aided design and then printed in 3 dimensions using rapid prototyping technology.

I can imagine seeing this kind of thing made out of slate and in a garden setting as a remembrance piece.

This is included in the exhibits of the Terra exhibition at Jerwood between 9th November and 11th December 2011.
