When doing a bit of pre-holiday research, I came across the impressive stone circle at Avebury and popped it onto our to-see list. A stone circle that’s big enough to have a village within it? Now that’s something I needed to take a look at! The manor gardens had just been opened up to dogs, so we were able to explore those as well.

While looking around the museum, we found a map showing other ancient wonders in the area. So, we continued our exploration by car, finding places to park and walk from. We visited Silbury Hill, The Sanctuary, and West Kennet Long Barrow. Such an impressive amount of history in a relatively small area.
