The day started with cloud and drizzle, and the forecast threatened heavy rain for the afternoon. We figured Glastonbury Tor probably wouldn’t be at its best, so we headed to a nearby National Trust spot, Montacute, instead.

We followed a signposted walk up to St Michael’s Hill – a four-kilometre route that includes both a decent hill and a folly. That’s a winning combination for us, and it certainly proved to be one. We just had time to grab a coffee from the café and get a stamp for Breezy’s Pooch Passport before the rain finally came down, sending us back to our accommodation for an afternoon indoors.
