Having stayed in Margate overnight, I wanted to find a walk for us partway home – something to break up the journey and let us explore somewhere new. I opened the Pup & A Way app which I downloaded a few months back, and looked along our usual route. That’s how I came across a mention of Leybourne Lakes Country Park.

I had a look at their website and discovered that not only could we follow the Ocean Circular walk around the lake – something I always find rewarding, no matter the size of the water – but the park also had toilets and a dog-friendly cafe. Result.

While we were walking, we spotted a Tesco Extra just across the road. And where there’s a Tesco Extra, there’s often a Pod Point charger – which turned out to be the case. After our walk and a drink at the cafe, we drove over and plugged in for 15 minutes, just enough to top the car up to get us home. There’s a 3-hour parking limit while the store’s open, so next time we could park there, leave the car on one of the slower chargers, and wander over to the park from there.
