We’d seen the Clifton suspension bridge briefly on the skyline yesterday while walking along the Chocolate path on the island and knew we wanted to get a little closer.

So we chose to head to Leigh Woods on our way out of Bristol. We took a wrong turning to start with and ended up down on the river path which actually gave us a great view from beneath the bridge.

We retraced our steps and took a different route to get a view point from on the level with it. Quite the sight. Tho obviously not going to knock the Humber Bridge from #1 in my league table of suspension bridges.

A round wooden shelter with a grass-topped thatched roof, built as a community roundhouse in the woods

I enjoyed finding out about the Iron Age settlement and seeing the roundhouse built for community use.
