Another walk from the Brecon Beacons: 40 favourite hill walks book. This time we headed over to Black Mountain (not to be confused with the Black Mountains which is the other end of the Brecon Beacons National Park) as it was an area we hadn’t explored much on either of our previous visits. The book describes this walk as:

A short but rather challenging outing over often pathless terrain which has all you would expect of a much longer day in the hills.

The area we were in had a much more moorland feel about it with plenty of undulations, and lots of peat bog areas to work around. It was another stunning walk in terms of scenery, and made all the more special by the presence of a red kite flying overhead.
