We needed a not-too-exciting walk for Breezy today. She’d broken into her dog food store and eaten a couple of days’ worth while we were out. The advice to prevent bloat included not giving her more food (that seemed obvious) and limiting exercise (less so). So, a walk around town streets felt like a good option.

I’ve been to Steyning before, but I haven’t really explored it. Today, we followed this trail which introduced us to all sorts of different sights. One of the more intriguing things we learned was about Dog Lane, named for the Royal Mail ‘post dogs’ who were housed in the area. Internet searches about post dogs aren’t giving us many well-referenced explanations, though AI tells us Steyning used to have post delivered out of dog carts. I really want to believe that!
