We’re in Margate for a few days for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday. There were celebrations on Saturday and there are more tomorrow, so we decided to have a day doing our own thing. We headed off to Deal, which was a place that was new to us both.

It turned out to be a great spot for a day trip. We walked along the seafront, had a superb lunch at the end of the pier, and explored the town centre.

We loved that there were so many independent shops and coffee houses to choose from. The one we stopped in, Hope & Lane, was great and the coffee really hit the spot. On our way back along the seafront, we timed it perfectly to see the Time Ball drop at 2pm.

It was a great day out and well worth an explore.
