What an interesting story. After a lifetime of paintings were uncovered just before his death, his family faced the responsibility of what to do with the art. They had to decide how to put on an exhibition to keep a promise to a dying brother and uncle, while trying to come to terms with the sheer quantity of work and critically assessing it without emotion.

The writing didn’t move me, as the story jumped between Joe’s personal memories and drier facts. However, I’m still glad I read it. The book reminded me of what it’s like to try and piece together a life after someone is gone.
