Book review: The Night Watch by Sarah Waters
Rating: 5 out of 5
I love Sarah Waters writing style. Her characters are always rich, and full of details, and feel like real people. This story starts in 1947, then follows the characters back to 1944, and finally to 1941. Fleshing out the back story and helping to explain how they find themselves in the situations they do in 1947. Because of this I almost want to read it again, in reverse - so having just finished with 1941, pick up again in 1944, and read 1947 again. In fact, I think I might just do that.
Highlighted passaage:
‘I don’t like the barber’s. I always think he’s going to cut me up and put me in a pie.’
