Rating: 4 out of 5

I read this in under 24 hours. And found myself picking it up to read another couple of chapters in between doing other things. It was well paced, and a good premise for a story. But I didn’t really end up caring that much. Having just finished reading “The Nightingale” that’s pretty much what I wanted so it delivered.

Highlighted passages:

So I kept writing. I wrote and wrote until I had cramp in my hand. It was so cathartic, so freeing to be able to cry, alone, without worrying that my grief might upset Jake and Mark

happiness doesn’t always lie in the future and in any success you hope might come your way. It’s in the here and now

You never know how much you have, you never realise how much you’ve got to be grateful for, until it’s snatched away from you
