Book review: The Lido by Libby Page
Rating: 5 out of 5
I loved this, and it fitted in really well in my current research theme of belonging, and complements ‘A sense of purpose’, which I’m reading at the moment as well, really nicely. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and the location. The descriptions were effective, and I felt I was there on more than one occasion. I suspect I’ll read this again before the year is out. At the moment, this is my ‘Read in 2018 Novel of the Year’
Highlighted passaages:
Behind some windows the stories are sad, behind others there is laughter and love that might not be loud or flashy but that sits quietly in the rooms like carpet.
‘I take you as you are, loving who you are now and who you are yet to become,’
‘I will celebrate your triumphs and mourn your losses as though they were my own. I will love you and have faith in your love for me, through all our years and all that life may bring us.’
‘I promise to listen to you and learn from you, to support you and accept your support.’
