Book review: The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde
Rating: 4 out of 5
This story was mentioned to me by a friend when I was explaining the concept of “Booksurfers: Treasure Island” to him and I can understand why. Whereas Booksurfers was a children’s book and therefore quite simply done, this was far more twisty and turny and literary. It would best suit a well read person who enjoys fantasy thrillers. I read Jane Eyre as a child and remember it poorly so some of the plot elements and literary plays were a bit lost on me. I did, however, enjoy the humour and found it engaging and easy to read.
Highlighted passages:
so often Mr Right turned out to be either Mr Liar, Mr Drunk or Mr Already Married.

‘Ignore forgive and concentrate on living. Life for you is short; far too short to allow small jealousies to infringe on the happiness which can be yours only for the briefest of times.’
