Another episode of Seriously that made me expand how I think about things. This time about captions on tv and films. I have my hearing, so I only rely on them when the programme, or film, I’m watching is in another language. I can still hear the soundtrack and the background scene-setting. The presenter and his guests do a great job explaining how much art and skill are involved with translating the heard experience into captions.

The presenter has hearing difficulties himself. That he has presented a show that is to be consumed by the medium of sound isn’t lost on him. The transcript has been made available here
