Book review: One Dog and His Boy by Eva Ibbotson
Rating: 5 out of 5
What a lovely book. It was mentioned in some publication or others article on children’s books that adults really should read. So I did. And it was lovely. A story of adventure. A story of love. A story of finding a place where you belong.
Highlighted passages:
the smell of dog wasn’t thought to be right for the rich people who took the animals out.
a dog’s smell is as much a part of him as his bark or the way he holds his tail
mongrel and a cross-breed are not the same thing. A cross-breed is a mixture of two breeds only, and is considered quite respectable – like a labradoodle – but a mongrel can have six or more different strains of dog in him.
A dog who belongs to somebody forever is a dog who is free.
