A few months ago I discovered that the Guardian has a dementia section and I subscribed to the RSS feed to see what kind of articles they posted. Through this I discovered a series of articles by Rebecca Ley. She is the long-distance daughter of a dementia sufferer, sounds familiar doesn’t it? and she posts articles most wekeends. In her case it is her Dad who is the suffererer. The articles she posts, and the things she discusses are oh so familiar. And she is much better at expressing herself than I am. But, if you’re interested in what it’s like, read her articles. My Mum is much more advanced in her dementia than Rebecca’s Dad is, but none the less, the worries, the guilt and the attempt to bury the emotions away are all there.
