Book review: Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine
Rating: 4 out of 5
Another novel that I added to my to read list a year or so ago. The current Coronavirus lockdown period means I’m spending more of my time reading and so am working through that backlog.
I found this book, a child/young adult work, when I was specifically looking to broaden my reading to cover aspects of life I had no direct experience of. This was one I found which seemed to be well respected. And as one of the main topics is a search for empathy, and in affect that’s what I’m looking to expand, it is well suited for that expansion of life experience. In fact the author, in the Q&A at the back of the book says:
“I think we can learn much of value from people who see the world differently”
Easy to read, interesting characters, written by an author with secondary experience (as a parent) of Aspergers.
