Rating: 3 out of 5

This, the second book in the Thursday Next series, builds on the world defined in “The Eyre Affair”. It shares the same sense of word play and fun. Not a classic, must-read story but still a good “turn off brain and read” tale. I’m not left feeling that I really must read the rest of the series

Highlighted passages:

I thought I knew my mother but I didn’t. Children rarely understand their parents at all.

I sat in quiet introspection, regretting, as children always do upon the death of a parent, all the things we never said and never did.
