Book review: Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino
Rating: 3 out of 5
I didn’t get anything like as much out of this as I’d hoped or expected. There are some lovely descriptions, but there doesn’t seem to be any form of a story.
I usually read to be swept away. And this felt like a slog. Like I might have been walking between all these cities. In fact, if it hadn’t been a book club book I might well have given up on it altogether.
Highlighted passage:
Futures not achieved are only branches of the past: dead branches
