"Interior Design" or driven by curiosity
I just spotted James Friedman’s Interior Design project via petapixel and I really like his summary of the project:
Curiosity led me to cut my collection of golf balls in half to see what the cores looked like. To my surprise, what I found inside inspired me to consider that I could discover, in the unlikeliest of places, elegant formal qualities and surprising metaphorical possibilities. Interior Design has moved me to be enthusiastic about abstraction, an exciting corollary to my work as a documentary photographer.
I love that it was driven by curiosity. As a curious person myself I can totally appreciate this as a driving force. It does make me remember, however, that I need to give myself time to let my thoughts be driven by curiosity, rather than via external influences, as sometimes it can lead me to discover interesting things or to more thoroughly understand a concept.
