For my Christmas present in December 2019, Richard bought me a gliding voucher. Today I got to use it. And it was beautiful. A real sense of peace as we flew over Sussex. There weren’t any thermals to be found, so it was a tow-up and a fly-down experience. But I could imagine how wonderful it must be to get some lift and fly around for longer using nature’s power.

We flew towards clouds to try and find some lift there. It felt like being in a film where the weather comes rushing towards you. But the clouds were really light and fluffy and totally unthreatening. It was a wonderful experience being so close to them.

It was a very gentle experience. Very few bumps. I guess there’s no fighting the weather conditions - you’re working with them. I enjoyed every moment.
