We were staying in an airbnb with views over the Gibside estate, so we decided to head over there for a look around the place. We also discovered that it had an EV charger on site and so while we explored and filled up on coffee and pasties, the car filled up on power.

There are a couple of ruined buildings on the site. The first one we came across was the orangery.

And then we found our way to the main house.

In the grounds is the column to liberty which we’d been able to see from the garden of the place we were staying. Standing at the bottom and looking up I couldn’t even see the figure at the top!
