We were at Emmetts Garden today as a stop-off on our way home after spending Christmas with family in Margate. It was a pretty cold day, but it was fun to revisit and try and remember the lay of the land, as it had been a long time since our last trip.

We also got to complete a page in Breezy’s latest Pooch Passport by going, which resulted in a nice bag of treats for her. A successful trip all around!

I was amused to read the sign and learn that an electric fence had been installed to protect the tulips from rabbits and badgers who like to dig the bulbs up for a feast. I’ve never seen an electric fence used to protect plants and bulbs before!

I immediately pictured some kind of secret mission. In my head, I see a scene that feels like an Aardman animation crossed with a Mission: Impossible thriller, playing out in the darkness, with the badgers and rabbits constructing elaborate structures to get to the bulbs. Perhaps with a wise owl sitting above giving directions. It must take some planning to get to the loot!

We might have to go back in springtime to see how the bulbs actually fared.
