While I was in Deal, I saw these blue plaques on different shops and bars showing what the buildings used to be. I loved the idea. It’s fascinating to think about the history behind the places you walk past every day.

The histories were so varied, too. One building was a plumber, then a postmaster, and a butcher, among other things. Another one’s history was much more focused, staying in the sweets and baking business as a confectioner, baker, and pastry cook. I really wish more towns would do this.
