Book review: Breakfast at Tiffany's and Three Stories by Truman Capote
Rating: 5 out of 5
Review from 2020:
Read for book club during lockdown. Somewhere between 2016 and now I’d given my copy away to charity. So I bought another one. Again it is the title novella, and three short stories.
This time I came away with a sense of love running through all four stories. They all seem to be love stories in one way or another, not necessarily romantic love, but familial love, or friendship love.
Having learned about self-compassion between the two readings, I think I see Holly in a different light now than I did the first time. I’d love her to be able ‘to find a real-life place like Tiffany’s that makes her feel at home’ within herself, rather than looking at people and places.
Review from 2016:
This edition includes “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” as well as the other short stories. It’s been a few years since I saw the film so I mostly read it as if fresh. And then I read it again. Straight away. Beautifully written, really descriptive, and quite transportative. A good read.
Highlighted passage:
Home is where you feel at home, I’m still looking
