Rating: 5 out of 5

I’m not the target audience for this book (I’m a middle-aged adult), and my 5-star rating is based on my personal experience with it, not what a child might get. Reading “Black Sheep” recently made me realize just how much I didn’t know about Black British history. I’d actually had the adult version of this book on my “to-read” list for ages, but I was hesitant to pick it up, worried it might be too academic for me. So, when I found out this version existed, I immediately got a copy and read it.

I found it informative and really well-written. The subject matter itself was often sickening, incredibly frustrating, and profoundly enlightening. I’ve learned a lot and filled in some important gaps in my understanding. There’s always more to learn, of course, but this was a brilliant first step.
