A morning walk at Darkhill Ironworks
Today we needed to leave our cabin in the Forest of Dean and drive home. A shortish walk nearby before we got going seemed in order, and a quick browse of the Forest of Dean Forestry England page introduced me to Darkhill ironworks. An explore was in order. It was quite cold as we arrived and steam was rising from the frosty bracken - something I’ve only read about in novels. We couldn’t get too close to the buildings, but got a great overview of how big the site once was, and how well preserved some of the walls are.
