Book review: A History of the World in 21 Women: A Personal Selection by Jenni Murray
Rating: 4 out of 5
I spotted this in the library and it was an instinct pick. I know Jenni Murray through Woman’s Hour and so, at some points, it was her voice I heard. What I like was that this was her pick of 21 women. It didn’t claim to be a definitive guide, nor even an unbiased guide. She states her reasons and what she admires about the women she’s chosen. Some I’d never heard of, others I don’t necessarily see in the same way as Jenni, but that’s all ok, I learn as I read!
Highlighted passaage:
Isaac Asimov’s famous remark: ‘The most exciting phrase to hear in science… is not ‘Eureka’, but that’s funny!
