• Today’s other walk: Cawthorn Roman Camp

Not far from where we’ve been staying is an area marked as Roman Practice Works on the OS map. I couldn’t quite work out a nice circular walk from the cabin, so we dropped in on our way back from Sutton Bank and followed the signposted route.

There were lots of informative signs and a lovely accessible viewing platform overlooking the valley. The trail is only a mile long but was packed with butterflies and goats.

  • Today’s walk: White Horse Walk

We hadn’t explored the west of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park before, so we headed to one of the visitor centres — Sutton Bank. A helpful staff member there suggested the White Horse Walk, so off we went.

It was a lovely walk along well-maintained and clearly signposted paths.

  • Today's walk: Dalby Forest sculptures

While looking at walks in this area, I noticed that Dalby Forest had some new sculptures. When I say new, I mean new since I was last there. That was at least a decade ago, possibly longer. A good reason to head over and explore.

We did three short walks, with a lunch break between the second and third. A good way to take in different parts of the forest.
