A couple of months ago, I was looking for walks that a friend and I could do together. I stumbled across The Centurion Way, which I’d never heard of before. I loved that the whole trail felt doable for us. It is only six or so miles long, and there is a handy bus that goes from West Dean back to Chichester.

So, we decided to give it a go. We are often lucky with the weather on our walks, and today was no different. The sunshine kept us warm while we moved, though we did pop an extra layer on when we stopped for a bite to eat.

We hopped on the train from Brighton to Chichester and walked to the trail head. It was pretty easy to find. Once we were on our way, it was very simple to navigate, except for a small section around Lavant where the path leads through a housing estate.

There were some lovely pieces of art along the way.

I particulary enjoyed “The Chichester Road Gang”

Empty oxygen cylinders were used for the bodies and old cast iron rail chair fasteners for the faces. They were situated to mark the place where the old Roman road crosses Centurion Way

There were some great views of the countryside to enjoy as well.
