Most poignant upload for February

Media_httpfarm6static_hixcu

In February I uploaded 26 photos to flickr.

This, like last months photo, was taken for my 365 project. It was taken as we were leaving the hospital after my Dad had died. It is chosen as my photo of the month as it represents loss, and that is what the second half of February has been about for me.

If this glove hadn't been there, at the bottom of those stairs on that day, then my 365 project would have finished the day before. As it is, I only managed one more day before abandoning it.

Favourite upload of January

Media_httpfarm6static_jjffg

In January I uploaded 70 public photos to flickr

This photo was taken on my iPhone and is part of my 365 project

I like the reflection and contrast of a concrete block next to a more traditional, and in keeping with its neighbours, regency style building.

I found January generally to be a very busy, but pretty uninspiring month, and I didn't take many photographs that weren't part of the 365 project (and I even struggled to keep that going too)

Favourite upload of December

In December I uploaded 130 public photographs.

This photo was taken on Brighton beach during the snow fall at the beginning of December with my trusty Nikon d80, and features my lovely dog Skitters.

Favourite upload of November

Media_httpfarm5static_gbxeh

In November I uploaded 170 photographs.

This photograph was taken as we made our way to the Brighton Breeze VW campervan rally on the seafront. It is under the pier, a place I usually avoid, but the light and water on the path was perfect to get some great reflections going on. It is the contrast between the white, the red and the black that makes this stand out for me.

This was taken using my trusty Nikon d80 and my lovely Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens.

Favourite upload of October

Media_httpfarm5static_ktijj

In October I uploaded 265 photos to flickr.

This photograph was my photo for day 62 of my iPhone 365 project. It also forms part of my Found project and contributes to the sub-project Found Footwear (if you're interested in why I like the found concept, there is an explanation here)

I like this photograph because I love the colours. I love the way that the pink looks against the aqua/blue colour. I also love that these shoes are photographed exactly as I found them, when I found them.

Favourite upload of September

Media_httpfarm5static_mjihg

In September I uploaded 91 photos to flickr.

Of these 91, 30 were part of my (relatively) new iPhone 365 project. This photograph is one of those - day 15 in fact.

It was taken using hipstamatic (john s lens and blanko film) on my iPhone4.

It is of the steps above Traeth Llyfn beach, possibly the most beautiful beach I've ever had the pleasure to spend time on. The only way down is via these steps.

Part of the reason I've chosen this as my photo of the month, is because I know what is just beyond these steps, how beautiful it is, and because I know that I held back from something obviously beautiful to ensure that I got the shot I wanted, with the hand rail just touching the right hand corner, and with the metal grid of the top step level. I have more photos of our week in Pembrokeshire to process, taken using either the d80 or one of two film cameras I carried around, so don't be surprised to see more of them appearing in my flickr stream.

Favourite upload of August

Media_httpfarm5static_sauux

In August I uploaded 162 photos to flickr.

This photograph is of Richard and Skitters standing on a fell in the Lake District, with the beautiful lake of Wastwater in the background. A beautiful photograph (in my humble opinion) of a beautiful place. Go and explore Wastwater yourself if you get a chance.

As with last months photo, this photograph was taken on my Superheadz Blue Ribbon using Kodak Ektar 100.

Favourite upload of July

Media_httpfarm5static_opceh

In July I had a quiet month and only uploaded 57 photos. Part of the reason for this is because the majority of my day to day iPhone photos are going to my janeonthemove photoblog instead. Only those photos which are potential contributions to one of my ongoing projects are making it on to flickr.

This photograph was taken on my Superheadz Blue Ribbon, their take on the Vivitar Ultra Wide camera, using, what is rapidly becoming my favourite film stock, Kodak Ektar 100. This was only the 2nd film I'd shot on this camera, and I love it. It's very small, light and extremely plasticy, but combined with the Ektar produces some wonderful coloured shots. I will do a review of it when I've run a few more films through it.

Skitters, our dog, is often a fast moving animal, and I love the perspective of this, and the fact that only the middle of her seems to be still. She's just doing what she does, running around all over the place.

Could have been favourite upload of June

Media_httpfarm2static_nirjb

In June I uploaded 127 items to flickr.

I have now posted a complete year's worth of Favourite upload photos, so for this month I thought I'd post a "could have been favourite" upload of the month

This is a photograph I like, but it is also one that I can see plenty of "it would have been better if"s with. So, I like the interaction between the two golden figures, I like the expression on the guys face but I feel it would have better without the photographer (I think) in the background (the guy with the blue jacket and arms raised as if wielding a camera just behind the guys right arm). I also feel it would have been better to have been a little bit wider and got all of the guy's left hand and more of the ladies back into the shot.

This photograph was taken at the Margate Big Event on a cloudy and, later, rainy Sunday using my Nikon d80 and processed using Lightroom.

I'll probably return to the more usual format next month.

Favourite upload of May

Media_httpfarm4static_meftx

In May I uploaded 176 photos

This photo was taken in Tokyo in January, and shows Richard standing in front of the map outside Shibuya station.

I love the colours of this photo, and I love the light. In fact, the quality of the light was something I really noticed during the two days we spent in Tokyo.

This photo was taken on my Nikon d80 and processed using Lightroom.

I'm almost up to date with my photo processing, only having 75 unprocessed images left in my Lightroom queue. So the chances are good that next months 'Upload of the month' will be more topical.
